Hip Hop 50 Skate Day: Customer Appreciation Day

The city will host and sponsor events leading up to and on Hip Hop’s actual birthdate (August 11, 2023) in commemoration of Atlanta-based rappers, musicians, and creatives from over the past 50 years.

City of Atlanta and Hartsfield Jackson International Airport are coming together for a three-month concert series in the name of 50 years of Hip Hop.
Pop-up Galleries, Open studios, Graffiti Restoration, Dance performance and showcasing the student of Artscool, Guardian Artists and The Creatives Project fellows.
This special event will feature the four elements of hip hop: DJ, MC, break dancing and graffiti art. Guests will have the chance to experience all these elements in one place - from watching professional DJs spin their favorite tunes to witnessing masterful MCs showcasing their lyrical skills, being amazed by talented break dancers showing off their moves and admiring stunning graffiti art from local artists.
The City of Atlanta and Sprite have team up with Hip Hop Icons to create a unique experience celebrating the genre-blending culture. The concert will also serve as celebration wrap up party for the Summer Youth Employment Program. Hosted By Jermaine Dupri and Performing: T.I, Goodie Mob, Killer Mike, Earthgang, Backbone, Crime Mob, ScottyATL.
The event will feature gardening projects, a live DJ, local performances, community service activities and much more! Volunteers will be provided lunch and a branded t-shirt upon the conclusion of the event.

The annual I Do Music 5k Run / Walk has partnered with City of Atlanta for the Celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop. The event also includes a post-race celebration, inside of Patchwerk Recording Studios where light appetizers & healthy snacks will be served.
Artists Talk with Graff and Artists on their creative path and the Hip Hop that inspires them. Bring your own sketching and drawing tools Extra Graffiti Art materials available. Video Recording of the talk available online at a later date.

Featuring a special conversation with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens about Atlanta’s contributions to Hip Hop. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get a personalized signed copy of his book and get insight in the trials, learnings and successes that made him who he is.

ONE Musicfest (OMF) is the Southeast's largest 2 day, urban progressive music festival.
Held during the congressionally recognized Hip-Hop history month, this conference will take place in Atlanta, GA on November 6- 7, 2023. The goal of this conference is to celebrate, acknowledge and promote the importance of Hip-Hop culture in our lives and society. Specifically for this conference we are interested in highlighting questions around Hip-Hop culture’s inclusion in different regions, southern women emcees and Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop’s future including the role of AI, the continued global expansion of the genre, and numerous other topics.
Come celebrate 50 years of hip hop and the launch of the Atlanta Hip Hop Archives at Georgia State University! This event will showcase Atlanta Hip Hop and feature speakers and workshops from the various elements of hip hop. Join us for special guests, trivia, DJing, graffiti, music sampling, a discussion on the artwork “The Atlanta Rap Map,” and more. Bring friends, bring materials to donate to the archives, and come ready to tell your Atlanta hip hop stories. The event will include swag, giveaways, food, and more. The event is open to the public.
