The city will host and sponsor events leading up to and on Hip Hop’s actual birthdate (August 11, 2023) in commemoration of Atlanta-based rappers, musicians, and creatives from over the past 50 years.
The City of Atlanta and Sprite have team up with Hip Hop Icons to create a unique experience celebrating the genre-blending culture. The concert will also serve as celebration wrap up party for the Summer Youth Employment Program. The annual I Do Music 5k Run / Walk has partnered with City of Atlanta for the Celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop. The event also includes a post-race celebration, inside of Patchwerk Recording Studios where light appetizers & healthy snacks will be served.
